As the name implies, Shifty is a bit sneaky, quick witted, and deceitful. They USED to be a detective for their city but was fired for slacking off. Deep down Shifty does want to be the best detective out there, but they’d rather come off to others as competent than actually be competent. They would rather improvise when put under pressure to keep a facade.Generally seen as untrustworthy by others in the city. They don't have many friends, not because of their reputation, but because they don't actively seek out building new relationships with people (emotionally unavailable and socially inept).

Disco is a stickshift disguised as a "Disco Stick". They bare the same resemblance as Shifty, but with shiny makeup over their face and a difference style of clothing.Disco (Shifty’s alter-ego) is quite literally everything Shifty isn't. Disco, despite being socially inept, is happy-go-lucky and loves their life. They have no background in journalism and radio hosting whatsoever. Every detail of Disco’s life is fabricated and they have a hard time juggling all the lies they've told others but tries to make it work. Being Disco allows Shifty to openly express themself without hateful eyes watching. The adoring fans, attention and money is almost like a drug to them.Disco is an act Shifty is never hoping to have to drop.

He keeps himself heavily guarded from others and refuses to let people in unless they’ve proven loyalty to him multiple times before.He is extremely street-smart AND book-smart. Being nearly the top of his class every year during high school. His intelligence isn't very obvious to others though, almost as if he's hiding it.

Calvin- Younger brother. though externally expressing disinterest in him and what he does, Bristles really cares about Calvin and his safety, but he is very reluctant about showing his affection.

Calvin’s always available to listen to others' struggles, it is easy for him to sympathize with others but hard for him to talk about his own issues as he is afraid of being a burden to others.

Shifty - Friends. Calvin and Shifty went to school together. Shifty was constantly held back for low grades. Calvin was Shifty's only cheerleader, which led to Shifty eventually getting their life together, maintaining good grades and skipping ahead to finally graduate.
Bristles - Older brother. Though Calvin holds some brotherly affection for Bristles, he holds more hate for him due to various reasons, mainly his secretive gangster lifestyle, and his selfishness to not help him pay for rent or his needs.
Gale- Friends.

Calvin single-handedly takes care of the rent and bills for the household. Bristles, despite having the funds, does not offer any help.
Calvin is named after his father, Calvin Sr, who was a famous film maker who sadly passed away when he was younger.
Calvin's dad used to call him 'Booker' because Calvin liked to read.

Unfortunately, reality hit, and there was nothing either of them could do about it.

ABOUT

D&GFE (often stylized as DAGFE) or "Drugs & Guns for Everyone" is a drama object show that takes place in the 1970s, loosely inspired by music from the band That Handsome Devil.*This show is directed towards an older teen audience and will be tackling heavy subjects. Viewer discretion is advised.

plot one: Two faced

STORY

Plot one of D&GFE follows the main character of the series, Shifty, an investigator for the city of Gildsborg who is… not very good at his job.He’s broke, burnt out, and barely holding things together. After months of holding onto a high-profile murder case (and not really making any progress in it due to his laziness) things finally come crumbling down.Shifty loses his job, can’t make money for his already overdue rent, and is kind of stuck in life with no clear direction. While scrambling for work, he finds out about a recent opening at a local radio station and decides to audition, even though it’s completely outside his comfort zone.Shifty is convinced that his real self is too boring and awkward to ever succeed in something like radio, so he creates a whole new persona called Disco who's flashy, confident, charming, and everything he isn’t- except for the awkward part.Surprisingly, they get the job, and Disco becomes the version of himself he uses at the station and in public, while Shifty keeps their real life separate.At the radio station, "Disco" meets Mike, a news anchor who lives off attention and fame. Mike is constantly chasing higher ratings and bigger connections, and he pulls Disco into that world with him. As "Disco" learns how to navigate life in the spotlight and behind the scenes world of celebrities... Shifty has to juggle two lives, one that feels empty and foreboding, and one that feels exciting, addictive, but way harder to control.The plot focuses on identity, performance, greed, and what happens when pretending to be someone else starts to feel easier than being yourself.

The second plot of D&GFE is about the Brush bros, Calvin and Bristles.Calvin is a 17 year old high school dropout working three jobs just to keep a roof over their heads after the brothers were kicked out by their mother, Candace. He pays the rent, buys the food, and holds everything together while trying not to completely lose it himself. He’s angry, exhausted, and constantly on edge, but all he really wants is a normal life and some kind of semblance of peace he never seems to get.Bristles is his older brother and the main reason things are so bad. He’s a gang leader and a drug dealer who lives in the same apartment but does absolutely nothing to help. No rent, no support, hell, not even a single chore. He treats Calvin like it’s his job to clean up the mess, and that resentment has been building for years.Home doesn’t feel safe, it feels awfully suffocating.Calvin begins looking for any way to cope. Anything that makes the days quieter and the nights easier to get through. Then Gale appears. Gale feels comforting. Familiar. Like someone who actually understands what Calvin is going through and isn’t asking him to "just be stronger" for once.But the more Calvin leans on Gale, the harder it becomes to tell what’s helping and what’s hurting. Gale is always there.This plot talks about abuse, mental health, dependency, and the slow, terrifying, and achy feeling of losing control when the thing keeping you together might also be tearing you apart.

D&GFE takes place during August 1974 in Gildsborg, Maytin.Maytin is a populous city full of rich history in arts, music and film.With the number of dreamers moving to Gildsborg to chase a better life or get picked up in their respective industry, not everyone can make it.Most citizens are stuck working in office jobs, retail, or have to hustle to make a living.Like any city with a high population, there are areas of poverty that are under the shadow of the glorious and tall downtown buildings. With high demand for jobs and housing, people who cannot keep up get left behind... and people will do anything to survive.The outskirts of the Gildsborg are where the celebrities, business owners, and trust fund babies reside. Most wealth is from old money.The outliers in these communities are the celebrities. The chances of making it big in Gildsborg as a writer, singer/songwriter, actor, or personality are extremely low, so if you make it, you are either extremely lucky or the best of the best.

Gildstar is a broadcasting center in downtown Gildsborg. Originally opened and founded on Sep 10th 1952 by Reagan Soprano, now owned by her daughter Minnie Soprano-Nadel.The huge building holds many rooms/studios for different television shows or radio broadcasts. Back in the 60's, Gildstar held many residencies but now only has three, Gildstar Radio, GBTV, and Gildstar News. Occasionally, empty studios are rented out to companies and college students for filming short term.The crew of GBTV, GS NEWS, and GS Radio is tight-knit. Working for Gildstar employees get top-tier pay; there are rarely vacancies due to this.

The offspring of two objects is usually some combination of their parents' object-category/concepts.Examples include:

Calculator (electronic) and floss container (dental product) => electric toothbrush
Gasoline container (automotive product) and martini (driving impairment) => stick shift
Newspaper (news) and megaphone (voice) => microphone

Objects have many similar features to animals, but are actually in a taxonomic kingdom of their own.Object ages directly mirror human ages. They also go through a similar cycle of life, early stages of life are dedicating to growing and once an object reaches adulthood they stop. When objects become elderly, their body starts to deteriorate. They may deal with structural wear and tear, similar to how an object in real life would change as time as passes.

Creating new life

All objects can create children together, no matter their genders.This process, called "manifesting," transfers part of each object's "soul" into a physical being.Often, the process is caused by an excess of love, which may "leave" both objects' souls to create a new soul form, which then grows into a person.An object can be created from untrue love.

BIOLOGICAL OBJECTS

Biological objects are objects that are not robotic and have existed on the earth since the beginning of time.Important characteristics of biological objects:

Insides and organs are made up of what would usually be found inside the real-life versions of the objects. Example: Juice box -> Paper casing = Skin , Juice = Blood
Objects are usually warm to the touch, similar to humans. They are able to regulate their temperature.
Biological objects have bones in their arms and legs.
Biological objects need to sleep and eat to survive.
Injuries can disfigure an object permanently and are unable to be fixed, unlike robots.

ROBOTIC OBJECTS

Most electronic objects are robots,Descents of a robot and bio objects are cyborgs and are often electronic as well.Their biology is different from other objects.Key differences include:

Metal extendable and retractable arms.
Visible joints on arms, legs, and fingers.
Robot's inside structure consists of wires, electronic components, and sometimes a black non-corrodible liquid (thought to be like oil, little research has been conducted to prove so. It directly mimics blood.)
Robotic objects are usually cold to the touch. Many are able to generate heat, but that is usually due to some sort of sickness and is not healthy for their structure.
Electricity is the one thing keeping Robots alive. Lack of it causes low energy and is potentially life-threatening.
Most Robots are able to create electricity themselves, which should be self-sustainable. The ability to create electricity may fade away as a Robot ages (* hypothesis due to limited research), which can cause them to become weaker and exhausted.
Short-circuiting can have deadly consequences for robots, like causing their components to burn and blow out.
Robots can change their voice on command,

Water and other liquids can harm Robots, so they may invest in getting a liquid protective case or film put over the vulnerable parts of their body.Unlike Biological objects, robots cannot form tears in the usual way their counterparts can.

ROBOT HISTORY

The first wave of the "robot" objects came in the form of automatons. Analogue beings animated by gears, switches, and pulleys, harboring no biological elements. They were first just entertainment for the ultra rich, made by talented artisans across years, even decades of work. They weren't sentient, until one day, they just "woke up".From the smallest automatons found in music boxes, to life-sized builds capable of complex movements, they all could walk, speak, and share original thoughts.The sentience of these automatons were hotly debated among those aware of their existence."Should they be granted citizenship?""Should their existence stay hidden?""Could they... be put to work?"Eventually, the wealthy, the only ones aware of this new "race" of beings, decided they should be hidden and put to work, with no rights. "They weren't biological," they reasoned, "they can't really think. And if they could, it's not like they know any better."They were at first put to work in farms, but as industrialization spread across the world, the upper class employed their automatons (even creating more, who also "woke up") in their factories. Whilst their creation was costly, they didn't need to eat, sleep, or get paid. They were cheaper than underpaying immigrants and employing indentured servants. And they never left their factory grounds.Generations lived and broke down in these factories. Each factory had its own cultures, automatons with their own mannerisms, accents, teachings. But they served their goal of their overlords: keep producing more. The general public still had no clue about their existence, but enjoyed the products of their unending labor.This ended when computerization began, marking the second wave of the "robot" objects, true robots. As automatons created computer chips and circuit boards, some got the idea to give them to the next generation of automatons. Despite being coded, they were much more curious and rebellious, "What is outside these walls"?Robots challenged the norm, and inspired their automaton brethren to think beyond the box they worked. And together, a factory protested by breaking out. Then followed more factories, then more. The general public only then learned about the existence of this artificial race of automatons and robots.Learning about the outside world, how horrible their treatment was in these factories, they campaigned for their rights and refused to work.The economy, based on an unseen work force, collapsed due to the lack of the lowest working class robots. They applied pressure to the politicians and the ultra rich, then eventually, they caved.
Entering the outside world, they were odd to the layperson object, with their own mannerisms and accents.Some didn't really care, many were annoyed how everything cost more since these people got rights, and some didn't think these automations didn't deserve any rights at all.Even today, people argue whether or not these automatons and robots can truly think and feel, if they are truly sentient, truly capable of the same things any natural object...

Culture

Names

There are two ways objects name their offspring:Some parents choose to name their children themselves.Some parents do not name their newborn children. They wait until the child comes of age (around the time they start school) and allow them to have the freedom to pick their own name.If a person is not named, they will be called by the name of their object.The last names of children are usually taken from the mother, often relating to the type of object their family is.

Gender

Gender is usually assigned by the parents at birth, but are otherwise neuter if unassigned.The concept of “being transgender” is not well known in this culture; most objects change their gender as they see fit. It is not talked about as an alien or unusual subject; it’s just a normal, everyday thing.There is no sexual dimorphism.
Objects that align femininely sometimes give themselves eyelashes, but this is entirely done by makeup and/or by other cosmetic alterations.

Religion

Most objects observe a religion called Ivaanism that focuses on the worship of angels, taking the form of basic shapes.Their main god is believed to be the sun, A.K.A "the eye in the sky" that's constantly watching their every move and judges their worthiness and devotion.Followers believe the overlord of the underworld is the moon,
The moon's ability to constantly change shapes is tied to evil, as it is called a shape-shifter and untrustworthy. Full moons often scare believers into staying indoors, and it is said that the moon is trying to trick believers into believing it is the true sun.The soul of an object is the most important thing to believers. Keeping your soul pure and round instead of dark and jagged is the goal. Ivaanists believe that sin causes spikes and the dirtying of a soul, which is very hard to repair on one's own.Ancient civilizations praised shape-like beings for eons, and these teachings were passed down, shared across countries, and retranslated for years on end until Ivaanism formed into what it is now.Ivaanism is the most popular religion in Maytin.Afterlife:
There is believed to be eternal life after death.There are several layers of heaven and several layers of hell.
- highest heavens (most devoted believers)
- great void (permanent neutrality)
- deepest hells (worst people and nonbelievers are said to stay here)The highest of heavens are often referred to as "Super" heavens and the deepest of hells are called "Super" hells for simplicity as it is written in the texts.The use of the word "Super" is rarely used by followers outside of mentions of these places, as it is considered blasphemous to use outside that context.Shapelings are believed to be the closest thing to the gods and are often referred to by Ivaanists as earth's proof of angels.

Viofren (commonly referred to as "Ally" or "Friend") is a drug that creates a hallucinatory “friend.” it is classified as a dissociative and a hallucinogen.The term for Viofren-caused “friends” is fren.Viofren is commonly used by the upper class because of its price, but it is also available to be purchased on the streets. Due to the high demand, it's a profitable choice for drug dealers.

ORIGIN

Viofren is, by itself, a purplish crystal distilled from the allium flower. It can be consumed by ingestion (from liquid form in vials, dissolved in drinks, food, or by itself) or smoking (rolled up into a blunt).

FRENS

As stated before, Viofren use will cause hallucinations which will be up being in the form of a fren.A fren is influenced by the life experience of the user; from an alternate or carbon copy of the user, to a mashup of people they know, or a desire they feel unfulfilled.Frens talk as if they have a complete life and are real people.They may talk to the user about their own friendships, jobs, and life but all the info is false and usually based off of the life of someone the user knows. Frens often feed into delusions of the user, they also convince the user to do things they wouldn't normally do. Due to this, the drug is outlawed in all of Maytin after reports of users committing violent crimes or having extreme changes in mood and their personalities attributed to manipulation by their Fren.

Symptoms

Symptoms include:

Reducing perception of the real world, mainly by reducing pain and awareness
A feeling of safety and happiness
Euphoria

Viofren physically alters the object’s bodily system, making withdrawal without medical guidance an extremely painful experience.Withdrawal symptoms include:

Suicidal ideation
Increased anxiety
Extreme mood swings and violent tendencies.
Fatigue

Overdosing on this drug is possible; if the user consumes too much Viofren, it can cause physical symptoms like shortness of breath and the most shocking symptom being bright violet eyes. Overdoses rarely end with death but it is very possible.Overdoses have not been studied well from the user's point of view.

History

Viofren used to be a pharmaceutical drug, with its manufacturing dominated by one company.It was thought to aid patients struggling with mental health, as their "fren" would be an ever constant companion the patient could vent to and show vulnerability when they couldn't/wouldn't open up to professional therapists.As regulation and increasing safety concerns rose, the nation's Food and Drug Administration ran an increasing number of studies on heavily used drugs, including Viofren.
While studies found that Viofren could help patients cope with mental health in the short run, prolonged, unfettered access often spirals to addiction, complete dissociation, and to some, death.The Food and Drug Administration promptly shut down the company and its manufacturing plants in the 50s. But what it failed to consider is the company's manufacturers could still synthesize the drug in home labs, and it also failed to consider the sudden withdrawal Viofren users would have.With these manufacturers out of their job, and an increasing market for the now-banned drug, it soon became a hot commodity on the black market, with street names "ally" and "friend" popping up.Additionally, those who've never taken Viofren before were fascinated by its effects, and those willing to pay up (often celebrities) take it as a fun recreational party drug.
